-Number One: I was running in downtown Madison last night, I saw this crazy lady with a huge snake wrapped around her neck coming towards me. As I passed her I was trying to run fast and get out of her way all resulting in me almost running into the side of a house.
-Number Two: I didn’t realize how much I missed my church while I was gone this summer. I am very excited for the ministry opportunities that are happening at my church. I organize the pantry and make sure that everyone gets assistance and take care of all the paperwork. Before going to camp I was really started to not enjoy the food pantry and all the work that it produces for me, but I can’t wait to open it up again!
-Number Three: Operation Christmas Child will start at church next Sunday. I absolutely love this organization. My church had done it for many years then it kinda went away. I organized it last year and the church was able to collect 106 boxes. I am really excited to see what God has in store for Milton Baptist this year. I hope for 150 boxes, but I know that we can do more. It only takes $25 dollars to fill one box, which is a very small sacrifice.
Now to camp!
-Number Four: I saw a man washing his car on Saturday, nothing strange about that at all. As I got closer to him he had all the car windows down just spraying the car with the hose, which I found to be a little bit strange.
-Number Five: I am almost 95% sure that I am going to LA for fall break. Exciting I know, but I bet we aren’t excited for the same reasons. I get to see Maria(a friend from camp). It is going to be a fun trip I can already feel it.
-Number Six: My friend Emily Merrill was upset(hahaha) that she didn’t get a mention in my first blog so here goes: I can’t believe that you’re not going to be at Hanover this year, it’s not going to be the same without that’s for sure. Get ready September 25th is coming soon!
When I first got to Ridgecrest I wasn’t really sure what to think about everything, I was overwhelmed by all the new people that I was meeting in such a short amount of time. Everyone was so different and came from all over the country; it was hard to see how we would come to together and become the family that a staff forms. Looking back at the summer now it’s so true we met as strangers and left as family. The friends that I made at camp are some of the best people that I have met in my life. Not a day goes by that I haven’t talked to at least one person that I worked with at camp, and they always seem to text or call at the perfect time. The Christian community that was created when we were all together was something I had never really experienced before, and it was absolutely incredible. I remember several returning staffers talking about after camp depression and how hard it would be to transition back into normal life after camp. Stephanie especially talked to me about it, I am not going to lie I thought she was crazy. Boy was I wrong! When I got home I felt like I was absolutely lost, I wasn’t sure what to do with all the free time and it defiantly was very sad. I am finally back to a normal routine but I have defiantly been bitten by the camp bug and I am already looking forward to fuge 2011.
Can't get this song out of my head..
